On a recent overnight trip from San Miguel de Allende, we visited the Sierra Gorda region of the nearby Mexican state of Queretaro. We stayed at Jalpan de Serra. We woke up very early in the morning to catch the sunrise from the Mirador Cuatro Palos. We hiked along the Escanela River to Puente de Dios. This trip has everything from colonial architecture to regional food to a bit of hiking and an incredible sunrise. Whenever we are in the mood for a tasty margarita, we head down to the square and order a couple of these refreshing drinks at La Posadita restaurant. Served in an oversized glass, this tamarind margarita served as a slushy or on the rocks has been a staple of theirs for many years, and it always hits the spot!
